Thank you to all athletes, coaches, clubs and parents, we have seen an exceptional response in entries for the second edition of the GAA Sprint Gala that takes place on Wednesday 9th August 2017 at Scotstoun Stadium. We are looking forward to a great night of racing that included 32 races!
Friday 28th July, we returned to Scotstoun Stadium for our final GAA Miler Meet of the season; this time racing over events of 1500m and 5000m (incorporating the scottishathletics U20 & Senior East / West District and National Masters 5000m Championships). The increase in spectators and athletes raised the atmosphere of the evening, resulting in great races.
With the newly designed YDL this season; Team Glasgow travelled to Sheffield to compete in the 'playoff' match in the hope of gaining a place in the UK Final. Against five very strong teams; Team Edinburgh, Team Kingdom, Forth Valley, Leeds and City of York, the team knew it would be a tough competition with everyone looking to raise their game for this match.
Glasgow City AC travelled to Bedford for the inaugural BAL "Big Saturday" match on 15th July. Spirits were high despite a few injury concerns and the squad were looking forward to the challenge of improving our league position. However, it proved to be another difficult day and although we had managed to assemble a larger squad for this match, we could only muster a 7th place finish. The result means in 7th place overall in the league but further adrift of safety in the relegation battle.
It has been an exceptional response from athletes and coaches in terms of entries received for the latest edition of the GAA Miler Meet in 2017 (incorporating the Senior East / West District 5000m Championships, U20 East / West 5000m Championships, and Masters Scottish National 5000m Championships). We are looking forward to a great series of races on the evening.
