Wednesday 4th January 2017, 19:00 - 21:00 The GAA Miler Meet 3000m (incorporating the Scottish National U17/U20/Senior/Vet Indoor 3000m Championships)
Midweek before the Scottish Inter District Cross Country, this meeting will be offering endurance athletes an opportunity to open their 2017 season with high quality competition over 3000m. The quality and depth of these races have improved significantly in recent years and we hope this process will continue for the 2017 edition.
A large team of athletes travelled to Bedford to take part in the National Final against seven other teams from the UK. We were joined by ten of our athletes who had competed in the UK School Games in Loughborough.
The final match of the 2016 BAL Division I season took place in the Rio of Southern England, Basingstoke (wait... that doesn't sound right). Yet again, a small but battle hardened squad of GCAC athletes delivered a heartening team performance to finish 5th place on the day. This in turn meant that we finished 4th overall in the table - level on match points with the 3rd placed club - to secure another year in the 2nd tier of the national league. Our congratulations to league winners, Thames Valley Harriers, and 2nd placed Southampton, both of whom are deservedly promoted to the Premiership.
