Miler Meet Aims and Snapshot Report

The aim of the group was to provide the athletes with a meeting that offered paced races, an accurate timetable, electronic timing and an opportunity to run new personal bests.

The weather was the one thing outside our control but we were fortunate to get a calm if a somewhat wet evening, fairly conducive to fast times.

We got of to a great start with Guy Learmouth winning a competitive Mens A 800 setting the tone for a night of high quality athletics.

The Mens B race included four athletes who had contested the Scottish Schools 800m final the week before and this didn't disappoint with Adam Drummond, with a 2 sec pb, surging to the win with four personal bests behind him.

This example was repeated throughout the night with the 800m H race a highlight with all eight competitors achieving a new personal best.

So How Did We Do Against Our Stated Aims?

  • Accurate timetable - all races started as per timetable!
  • Pacemaking- every race was paced at stated pace!
  • Electronic timing - photo finish was in place and all results were on-line on the night of the meeting.
  • Personal bests - the meeting produced 68% personal bests (higher than BMC Grand Prix).

What Now?

The next Miler Meet is on August 5th, again at Scotstoun. This time the focus switches to the 1500m & 5000m, with a limit of eight 15's and two 5000's.

We are making the same commitment as before to timetable / pacemaking and electronic timimg and hopefully achieving a similar percentage of personal bests.

Entry forms are available now and as before it is pre-entry only. One major change is that this time we will operate a waiting list for those who pre-enter after the meeting is full. This will allow us to replace injury pull-outs in the days leading up to the meeting.

Remember, there is no "walk-in" entry on the night! Instead, please complete the entry form below in advance.
