Team Glasgow History
Team Glasgow was formed in 2004 to compete in the National Junior League as a composite team.
1. To retain athletes in our sport
2. To offer more appropriate competition opportunities to athletes from the Clubs that formed the composite team. Over the last sixteen years these aims have been met successfully and the team spirit developed through the management of Team Glasgow that has satisfied the aims as originally stated. Club athletes in Glasgow share a common purpose. Clubs in the composite have successfully developed stronger Under 20 Sections within their Clubs.
It must never be forgotten that the social aspect of Team Glasgow strongly influences the camaraderie and competitive spirit of the Team. Athletes and Team Officials from Glasgow and surrounding areas look forward to travelling to away Matches because of the overnight stay and the opportunity to be with friends and to make new friends. For that Team Glasgow recognises the financial support given by parents in these financially challenging times.
The new formation of the National Junior League to the Youth Development League in 2014 has allowed Under 17 Athletes their specific competition opportunity and they are now an integral part of the Composite Team.
