Team Selection
The scottishathletics Inter Regional Match will take place at Wishaw on Sunday 28th August 2011. The events on the 28th August will be as follows with an A and B String in each event for Men and Women:
100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500, Steeplechase (2000m Women, 3000m Men), Sprint Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 5000m, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault, High Jump, Discus, Shot Putt, Javelin, Hammer, 4x 100m and 4 x 400m.
Selection Criteria
Performances in all track and field National Championship competitions up to and including the National Age Group Championships on the 30/31st July at Scotstoun will be used to select the team.
Athletes will be eligible for selection based on the location of their club for Scottish competition (i.e. athletes competing 1st claim for a club in NJAL, UKWAL or BAL can compete for their second claim club in this event at the athlete's discretion) Current University students are eligible for selection based on their 1st claim club.
As per last year, the three clubs - Lothian Running Club, Livingston and District AAC and Linlithgow AAC will be included in the Central area.
Athletes require to be in the Under 20 or Senior age groups to be eligible for selection.
Athlete Availability
Any athlete (or coach of an athlete) wishing to be considered for selection should please contact your Regional Manager. Please outline which event/events you would like to be considered for selection with details of your current form.
Selection Date
The team will be provisionally selected no later than Monday 15th August and athletes will be contacted in due course. Selections will also be posted on the scottishathletics website by Monday 22nd August and an email of the team will be emailed to all club secretaries.
Outdoor Inter Regional Match 2011 (Under 20/Senior)
Rules
- Teams will be selected from six (6) regions (East, Central, Tayside & Fife, Highland, Islands & Grampian, West City and West Coast). Selection for each region will be at the Team Manager's discretion.
- Athletes can compete in no more than three events and a relay on one day.
- All athletes will use senior heights and weighted implements as per UKA rules unless specifically requested in u20 guest hurdles races or Shot Putt for age group qualifying purposes. These performances shall not count for The Innes Trophy.
- Athletes will be eligible for selection based on the location of their club for Scottish competition (i.e. athletes competing 1st claim for a club in NJAL, UKWAL or BAL can compete for their second claim club in this event at the athlete's discretion) Current University students are eligible for selection based on their 1st claim club). The Inter Regional Championships are for athletes born on or before 31st December 1993 in accordance with IAAF Age Group qualification. U18 athletes will not be considered for selection for U20/Senior events on the Sunday.
- All athletes must be up-to-date members of scottishathletics and have received confirmation of their registration by the Friday preceding the competition. Any athlete found not to have registered by the day of competition will have the points they earn for their region deducted.
- The top six performances in 'A' string events will score 10 pts (1st place) scaled down to 5 points (6th Place). Double points will be awarded for relays.
- The top six performances in 'B' string events will score 6 pts (1st place) scaled down to 1 point (6th Place).
- The winning team (men's and women's combined) will be decided by combining the overall points scored in both 'A' and 'B' String events. The winning team will be presented with The Innes Trophy.
- There will be a maximum of two places available for guests in both 'A' and 'B' string sprint events, four for circular and six guest places for field event athletes.
- Athletes who are seeking to achieve a guest place in an event should contact The National Event Managers by 5.00pm, Friday 19th August 2011. Athletes will be notified by the National Event Manager following this date. Guest athletes do not pay for entry.
- Guest performances will not count towards point scores in the Inter Regional match format.
- Athletes will not be considered for guest selection if an athlete turns down an invitation from their Regional Team Manager.
- Additional events will take place for U20 and senior guest athletes (depending on demand). Selections will be at the National Event Managers discretion. Where there are less than three entries to an event, scottishathletics reserve the right to cancel that event.
- Should a tie occur in any event then the points for the places in question will be added together and divided by the number of athletes tied.
- In the event of a tie on points for the Innes Trophy the team with the most match wins from the day's competition will be deemed the Scottish Inter Regional Champions. In the event that it is still a tie The Innes Trophy shall be shared.
- All field athletes will be given three attempts with the top six athletes being awarded with a further three attempts. Guest field event athletes will be given three attempts only.
- All athletes in Regional teams must be entered via their Regional Manager and guests via the National Event Manager. Closing dates will apply for all.
- Athletes must be declared by their Team Manager at declarations at least one hour prior to the start of the first event, 90 minutes for Pole Vault athletes. Guest athletes must declare themselves at least one hour prior to their event but no later than 14.00 hours.
- Athletes must report to Call Room prior to their event. 20 minutes for track athletes, 30 minutes for horizontal jumps and throws, 50 minutes for High Jump, 60 minutes for Pole Vault.
- If team changes are required on the day, team managers should provide these as soon as possible to the Information desk situated at declarations. If any changes are made after 14.00 hours, these should be confirmed to the Meeting Manager.
- In the event of an athlete pulling out of the Regional match, a guest athlete can be used as a reserve, providing they are from the appropriate region. Team managers must confirm changes to

before Monday 22nd August. If there are any changes after this date amendments should be made at declarations before the event.
- No guest athletes will be added to the competitions after 5.00pm, Monday 22nd August 2011.
- £250 prize money will go to the 'Athlete of the Match' in both Male and Female competition. Performances will be measured against the Black Shields rankings and cheques will be issued on the day.
- There will be a podium presentation for 1st, 2nd and 3rd position with the Innes Trophy being presented to the winners following confirmed match score. We ask that all teams are available for presentations.
- Medal awards will be for the first athlete in the A' and 'B' String events combined including guests, based on performance.
