Athletes representing Team Glasgow travelled down to Leeds for the second match of the season this year, feeling positive and confident after their outstanding team effort on the first match.
With new members to the team, and returners coming back from injury; the team albiet slgihtly weaker than normal were ready to compete to their highest level.
Once again, team captain Andrew Costello started the team off in the perfect way with a PB performance and first place in the U20 Men's Hammer Throw. To begin with, Forth Valley and Team Glasgow competed with one another for the top position in the team standings; making the motivation of all the athletes even stronger.
With personal best performances coming from Adi Murray in the 400m, Freya Menzies in the 80m Hurdles, the team continued to build on their total and move into first place.
New U17 Captains; Adi Murray and Andrew McAngus stepped up to the plate ensuring to motivate and support their team mates and endeavour to have all events covered where appropriate. Very pleasing to see was the representation of Pole Vaulters in 3 out of the 4 age categories; allowing the team to gain valuable points and further consolidate their lead.
Once again strong performances in the relay demonstrated the work ethic and determination of our athletes and closed the match off with a victory of nearly 100 points.
With two matches now completed in first place, the team are building extremely well to perform to a high standard in the play off match in July.
As always, a thank you to all the officials who travel with the team, helping out continually over the next two days.
Next match takes place at the end of June, where we will be looking once again to take the top position in the league.
