Letter from Rebecca Bisland, Disability Sport Regional Manager, West of Scotland.
With the Paralympics 2012 and Commonwealth Games 2014 fast approaching, it is very exciting times for disability sport.
In order to increase the number of people with a disability participating in sport and to continue on from the Talent Identification Days that Scottish Disability Sport ran last year, we are running a series of Talent Development Days in 2010.
We are asking coaches and volunteers to help identify potential athletes to participate in these Talent Development Days and help identify new sporting talent in the West Region. The days our structured around SDS focus sports which are Paralympic and Commonwealth Games sports and there will be elite level coaches in the sports delivering the coaching at the days.
The first day is planned for:
Date: Saturday 22nd May 201
Venue: Scotstoun Leisure Centre
Time: 1.30-3.30pm
Who for: Participants with Physical Disabilities or Visual Impairment
Wheelchair users, ambulant athletes with a physical disability, blind or visually impaired athletes and aged between 12 - 25 years with previous sporting experience.
Participants will take part in 2 activities on the day for 1 hour each.
If you have any queries about athletes you would like to nominate for these Development Days then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
If you know of anyone who would like to be involved in this exciting development for disability sport, please pass on the information and have athletes contact;
